Amie Nguyen, O.D.

Therapeutic Optometrist
Optometric Glaucoma Specialist

Amie Nguyen, O.D. received her Doctor of Optometry in 2020 from the University of Houston College of Optometry, and earned her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from North Carolina State University. During externships with the Community Eye Clinic in Fort Worth, Texas, and the Richmond VA Outpatient Clinic in Richmond, Texas, she received training in primary eyecare, specialty contact lens fitting, refractive and cataract co-management, and ocular diseases, such as age-related macular degeneration, hypertensive and diabetic retinopathies, and glaucoma.

Dr. Nguyen became an optometrist after experiencing several different fields of health care, including family medicine, pharmacy, and dentistry, and decided she most enjoyed her experience in eye care. She strongly believes in the importance of quality patient care and education, and has always had the desire to help inform and educate her patients about their ocular and systemic health, which enables them to make their best decisions regarding their overall health.

Dr. Nguyen feels joy when her patients feel well taken care of, whether it’s customizing their contacts to best fit their visual needs or managing corneal conditions, such as keratoconus treating an urgent red eye, or informing parents that their child’s myopia progression can be slowed.

When Dr. Nguyen is not in the office treating patients, she stays active by doing CrossFit and hiking. She also enjoys trying new restaurants and spending time with her dog.

Erik Haselhorst, O.D.

Erik Haselhorst, O.D. received his Doctor of Optometry from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2010 and earned his Bachelor of Science in Genetics from Texas A&M University in 2006.

Dr. Haselhorst specializes in geriatrics and diabetic eye care. While in elementary school, the mother of one of Dr. Haselhorst’s friend was a practicing O.D. After observing her patient care skills, the diversity of the patient’s eyecare needs and the challenges that this profession could present on any day inspired Dr. Haselhorst to become an optometrist.

Now that Dr. Haselhorst is an optometrist, he enjoys educating patients about their vision and ocular health, helping them understand what he sees during an eye exam and the best ways to maximize the health of their sight.

Enjoying Retirement:

Opticians

We want you to see clearly and we want you to look good, too! Our opticians are also professionals. They have combined over 70 years of experience. Their technical expertise is well complemented by their knowledge and interest in fashion. They will be happy to show you the latest fashion trend, a special purpose frame, a timeless beauty, a cutting-edge design, or a traditional standard.

They understand that a forty-year-old professional has a different fashion interest than a college student or a retiree, so we stock frames for every taste. We have children’s frames too! Our opticians also understand that each person will have certain colors or shapes that are best for them, regardless of fashion trends. If you aren’t sure what colors or shapes you need, they will be happy to advise you. Remember, we want you to be as happy with your choice this time next year as you are today!
